Reading the Room
Power phrases need the right context. Saying "Let me be direct" in a casual coffee chat sounds oddly intense. Saying it before delivering critical feedback in a meeting sounds exactly right.

Pay attention to status dynamics. When speaking to your boss, "I'd like to propose" works better than "Here's what we're doing." When leading your own team, the opposite is true. Power phrases are tools, not weapons — the goal is clarity and respect, never intimidation.
