Reading Between the Lines
Business English carries hidden meaning. "That's an interesting idea" may mean no, and "Per my last email" often means the sender is annoyed.

Other coded phrases to watch for: "Let's table this" means we are dropping the topic, not putting it on the table. "Going forward" often means "I don't want to talk about what went wrong." "With all due respect" usually means the opposite.
