LESSON 1 · Travel English Survival Kit

Check-In and Security Phrases

At check-in, you will hear and need these phrases:

  • "I'd like to check in for my flight to..." — your opening line
  • "Window or aisle?" — seat preference question
  • "Any bags to check?" — luggage for the hold
  • "Carry-on only" — if you are traveling light
  • "Your boarding pass and ID, please" — at the checkpoint

At security, keep your answers short and clear. Agents screen long lines of travelers, so brief replies keep everyone moving.
