Storytelling Activates the Brain

When you hear a list of facts, language-processing networks do much of the work. When you hear a vivid story, additional sensory and motor networks can become involved, especially when the story describes sights, movement, or physical action.

This is why the best speakers wrap every idea in a narrative. "Revenue increased 23%" is data. "Last year, we were three months from bankruptcy. Today, I'm standing here because this team refused to quit" is a story that creates an emotional response no statistic can.
