Why Morning Voice Exists
During sleep, your vocal folds rest in a slightly open position for hours without vibrating. Fluid accumulates in the tissue overnight, making them thicker and less responsive. Your throat muscles are relaxed and deconditioned.

Additionally, mucus builds up on the vocal fold surface during sleep, and the muscles controlling pitch and volume are essentially cold. Your morning voice is like trying to sprint the moment you wake up — the machinery works, but nothing has warmed it up yet.
