Less Effort, More Impact

The instinct when wanting to be heard is to try harder — speak louder, faster, with more intensity. But many powerful communicators do the opposite. They use less effort because they rely on resonance and pause instead of volume and speed.

This is the paradox of vocal authority: restraint signals power. A leader who speaks softly forces others to lean in and listen. A speaker who pauses before key points creates anticipation. Effort projects insecurity. Ease projects control.
