The Pace-Authority Connection

Speaking pace affects authority, but not as a simple law where slower is always better. Some classic persuasion studies found faster speakers could sound more credible, while rushing can still make complex ideas hard to follow. The useful skill is pace control, not permanent slowness.

Use a normal conversational pace for supporting information, then slow down deliberately when delivering your main point. That contrast highlights importance and gives listeners time to absorb critical information.
