Standing Out in Group Conversations

In group settings, the person who speaks most does not always command the most attention. The person who speaks with strong vocal presence often does. Vocal presence comes from depth, pace, and intentionality rather than volume or frequency.

When you want to be heard in a group, wait for a natural opening. Begin your statement with a slightly lower pitch and slower pace than the group energy. This vocal contrast draws attention naturally because the brain orients toward change.
