Actively Seeking Disconfirmation

Beating confirmation bias means deliberately doing what feels uncomfortable:

  • Read sources you disagree with — not to be persuaded, but to understand the other side
  • Ask the hard question — for every belief, ask "What evidence would change my mind?"
  • Try to disprove yourself — seek examples that would break your theory, not just confirm it
  • Write down your predictions — memory will quietly bend them to match outcomes
  • Keep challengers close — surround yourself with critics, not just cheerleaders.
