Actively Seeking Disconfirmation
Beating confirmation bias means deliberately doing what feels uncomfortable:
- Read sources you disagree with — not to be persuaded, but to understand the other side
- Ask the hard question — for every belief, ask "What evidence would change my mind?"
- Try to disprove yourself — seek examples that would break your theory, not just confirm it
- Write down your predictions — memory will quietly bend them to match outcomes
- Keep challengers close — surround yourself with critics, not just cheerleaders.
