Observation as a Skill
Most people look without seeing. Holmes's real superpower was deliberate observation — noticing details others filtered out. A scuff on a shoe, the calluses on a hand, the particular creasing of a letter.

You can train this skill. Start noticing people's shoes, watch scratches, the wear patterns on their bags. Each detail tells a story. A pristine laptop with a worn keyboard suggests heavy use but careful handling. Dirty shoes with clean laces suggest the laces were replaced recently.
