LESSON 3 · Life's Big Crossroads

Love Is Not Enough

Romantic culture teaches that love conquers all. It does not. Love is one ingredient in a viable relationship, but it is not sufficient.

The relationship decisions people avoid most — whether to commit, whether to leave, whether to have children — are avoided precisely because they carry long-lasting consequences. You may be able to reverse some legal choices later, but you cannot erase the years, trust, family effects, or a child brought into the world. The stakes make the decision feel too large to face directly.
