When To Use Each

  • Consensus — for high-stakes calls that need full buy-in. Slow, but the commitment is strong. Best when the deciders are also the doers.
  • Majority vote — for moderate stakes under time pressure. Fast, but the losing side may drag their feet on follow-through.
  • Authority — for urgent or highly technical calls. Fastest, but only works if people trust the decider's judgment.
  • Delegation — when one small group clearly holds the relevant expertise.
