LESSON 4 · Your Emotional Operating System
Tools for Anger
Anger signals a boundary crossed or something you value under threat. The goal is not to eliminate it but to keep it from driving destructive behavior.
The physiological reset works best when it lowers arousal: take a slow walk, lengthen your exhale, and create distance from the trigger before you respond.
The perspective shift engages your thinking brain: ask whether this will matter in five years. If not, it probably does not deserve the energy.
Delayed response is a reliable rule: never react to an anger trigger within the first 20 minutes. Write a response if you need to, but do not send it. Anger usually fades a lot within that window.
