LESSON 2 · Burnout: Recognize, Recover, Prevent

The Tipping Point

Every burnout has a tipping point — the moment accumulated stress exceeded your recovery capacity. Before it, you were stressed but functional. After it, something fundamental shifted.

Common tipping points:

  • A significant life event on top of chronic work stress: breakup, health scare, family crisis
  • A betrayal of trust: passed over for a promotion you earned, colleague takes credit
  • A failed recovery attempt: vacation with nothing changed on return
  • A physical breakdown: serious illness, insomnia, or a panic attack.
