LESSON 4 · Release the Parent Guilt

Catch It Earlier Next Time

Most blowups are not bolts from the blue. Your body warns you first — a clenched jaw, a tight chest, a short fuse over something tiny. Learn your own early signals and you gain a few seconds to step away before you snap.

Keep a simple trigger map. After things settle, jot down: the time it happened, what was really going on (usually not the child — usually hunger, noise, or stacked-up stress), and the body cue you felt first. Over a couple of weeks the pattern shows itself. Maybe it is always 5 PM. Once you can see the trigger coming, you can plan around it.
