LESSON 1 · Calm Home, Happy Family

Building Your First Routine

Start with the time of day that causes the most stress:

  • Identify the 4-6 steps that need to happen (wake up, dress, eat, teeth, bag, shoes)
  • Create a visual chart together — drawings or photos work best for young kids
  • Practice on a calm weekend before a real school morning
  • Reward completion, not speed — a sticker, a high-five, or five minutes of something fun

Expect 2 to 4 weeks of resistance before the routine becomes automatic. The lazy parent is not the one who does nothing. It is the one who builds smart systems and saves their energy for connection and play.
