LESSON 3 · Calm Home, Happy Family
Rhythm Versus Schedule
A schedule is time-based: breakfast at 7:00, play at 9:00. A rhythm is sequence-based: breakfast after getting dressed, play after chores. Rhythms flex with the day while providing the predictability children need.

Children under six have almost no concept of clock time. Telling a four-year-old "we leave in 15 minutes" means nothing. But "after you finish your snack, we put on shoes" makes perfect sense. Rhythm speaks their language because it is built on sequences they can observe and predict.
