LESSON 3 · Calm Home, Happy Family

Three Daily Rhythm Phases

A good daily rhythm has three natural phases:

  • Morning energy — active, creative, demanding tasks, when attention and cooperation are highest
  • Afternoon reset — quieter activities, rest, and solo play
  • Evening wind-down — less stimulation, connection rituals, getting ready for sleep

Most behavior problems happen when activities are mismatched to energy levels. A high-energy outing at 5pm leads to an overtired meltdown at 6pm. The afternoon reset is the most neglected phase: even children who have dropped naps benefit from 20 to 30 minutes of quiet alone time after lunch.
