Many apps and videos deliver fast novelty and reward cues, so a developing brain can start to prefer that pace. By comparison, playing, reading, and conversation may feel slower at first. This is not automatically addiction in the clinical sense; it is a habit and attention pattern that needs time to readjust. When screen time drops, the discomfort is real, but it does not mean the child needs the screen.
