LESSON 1 · Talk So Kids Will Listen

Make It a Habit

Connection before correction works best as a reflex, not a one-time effort. The next time your child melts down, run the same loop: get on their level, soften your voice, and let them feel seen before you say a word about the behavior. The behavior can wait thirty seconds — a flooded brain cannot learn anything in those thirty seconds anyway. Once their body settles, the correction you wanted to give all along will finally have somewhere to land.
