Mean The Question

Kids can smell a question you don't actually care about. Ask "How was school?" while scrolling your phone, and they learn the question is a habit, not an invitation — so they hand back a habit answer: "fine." The fix isn't a cleverer script. It's looking up, slowing down, and being genuinely curious about the answer before you ask.
