When It Is More
Most developmental fears fade as the child grows. Look closer when fear intensifies, lasts past the expected age, or shrinks daily life; that pattern may need trained support.

The clearest warning sign is avoidance. A child who starts refusing school, dodging birthday parties, or saying no to anything unfamiliar has drifted from ordinary caution toward something heavier. The rule of thumb: normal fear is manageable — the child can still do the thing with support.
