Why Rest Days Matter

Recovery is where the gains are actually made, which means rest is not the opposite of training — it is part of it. A worked muscle needs a couple of days to finish rebuilding before it is ready to be pushed hard again.

Hammer the same muscle every single day and you interrupt that repair before it completes. Instead of compounding, the damage piles up and progress flattens.

This is the logic behind smart programs: they alternate muscle groups or build in rest days, so each muscle gets stressed, then left alone long enough to come back stronger.
