The Rectangle Shape

Measure your shoulders, waist, and hips. If all three land within a couple of inches of each other, you have what stylists call a rectangle, or straight, shape. There is no dramatic dip at the waist, and the line from underarm to hip runs mostly vertical.

Rectangle is one of the most common shapes there is, and plenty of models and style icons share it. Straight proportions give you a clean canvas: almost any silhouette will sit on you without fighting your frame.
