Timing Your Upgrades

Do not upgrade everything at once. Replace one piece at a time as your current version wears out. When your jeans start fading badly, replace them with a premium pair. When your blazer loses its shape, invest in a better one. This spreads the cost over months.

Set a monthly upgrade budget rather than saving for one big shopping spree. Even fifty dollars a month adds up to six hundred a year, enough to gradually replace every splurge-worthy piece with a quality version.
