LESSON 2 · Makeup in Minutes

Finding Your Shade

The right foundation shade matches your jawline, not your hand. Swatch three shades along your jaw in natural light, and the one that disappears into your skin is your match. Indoor store lighting lies, so step to a window or outside before you buy.

Your shade may shift between seasons as your skin tans or lightens. Rather than buying two bottles, mix a drop of tinted moisturizer or bronzer into your lighter shade during summer months. You can also keep two shades and blend them.
