LESSON 4 · Stop the Bite
Why Puppies Mouth
Puppy biting is not aggression — it is developmental behavior, as normal as crawling is for a human baby. Puppies have no hands, so they meet the world with their mouths. Texture, pressure, what is food and what is not: they sort it all out by biting.
The most intense nipping usually runs from about eight to sixteen weeks, then flares again during teething as sore gums drive a fresh urge to chew.
