Close the Indoor Loopholes

Supervision is the missing ingredient in most housetraining failures. If you cannot watch your dog, they should be in a crate or exercise pen.

Attach a leash to your belt and keep your dog tethered to you when they are loose in the house. This prevents sneaking off to another room for a secret accident. It also lets you catch the pre-elimination signs — circling, sniffing, and moving toward a corner — before they squat.
