LESSON 5 · Potty Training Done Right

Get Ahead Of Change

If you can see a disruption coming — a baby, a houseguest, a move, even new furniture — you can head off the marking before it starts.

Let the dog investigate the change on his own terms: sniff the box, the visitor's coat, the new crib. Pair it with treats and calm praise so the strangeness reads as safe, not threatening. A dog that feels secure has far less reason to stamp his scent back over the room.
