LESSON 6 · Potty Training Done Right

Manage The Environment

Every missed pile is a chance to rehearse the habit, and each repetition makes it stronger — so controlling access does more than any single correction.

Build "leave it" in easy steps. Start with a boring object on the floor, reward the turn-away, then work up to tempting items and finally the real thing outdoors. Reward instantly and generously every time. The make-or-break factor is people: if one family member supervises and another doesn't, the dog stays confused.
