Your Two-Week Plan

Most dogs turn around with about two weeks of steady practice. Make it easy to do right:

  1. Reward fast — mark slack with "yes" and treat within one second, so the dog connects the treat to the loose leash.
  2. Carry treats up front — use a pouch on your hip; fumbling for a treat kills the timing.
  3. Start somewhere boring — your quiet street first, the dog park later, once the habit holds.
