The Penalty Yard

For the dog that ignores a simple stop, raise the stakes: when the leash snaps tight, calmly turn and walk a few steps the other way. Now pulling does not just pause the walk — it loses ground toward the thing they want. Reset, then head back the way you were going. The rule sharpens to pull and you lose distance, relax and you gain it. Use it sparingly, and never jerk; you are guiding, not correcting.
