Puppy Energy Cycles
Puppies run in burst-rest cycles: a stretch of wild play, then a long stretch of sleep. The active bursts are short; the rest periods are surprisingly long, often well over an hour.
Keep a puppy busy through a rest window and you get the opposite of what you want. An overtired puppy gets more hyper. Their nervous system is flooded and overwhelmed, and frantic zoomies, nipping, and zero focus are the tell. That puppy needs sleep, not another walk. Learn your own puppy's rhythm — every dog's is a little different.
