When to Get Help

Most puppy wildness is normal and fades with training. Sometimes it does not, and that is worth a vet visit.

True canine "ADHD" exists, but it is rare. The clinical name is hyperkinesis, and its signature is an inability to habituate.

Normal puppies get used to repeated sounds — the doorbell stops being a big deal. A hyperkinetic dog never adjusts. The hundredth ring lands exactly as hard as the first. If that sounds like your dog, it is a conversation for your vet, not a training fix.
