Nail Trimming Mastery

The fear around nail trims is rational — cutting the quick causes genuine pain and bleeding. But overgrown nails cause worse problems: an altered gait, joint pain, broken nails, and nails that curl into the pad.

Learn to identify the quick. On light nails, it shows as a pink line. On dark nails, trim small amounts and check the cut surface — a chalky white ring means you are close to the quick, so stop there. Filing after clipping smooths the edges safely and prevents snags on carpet and bedding.
