LESSON 4 · Master the Basics

The Lure to the Floor

Start with your dog in a sit. Hold a treat at their nose, then draw it straight down to the floor, right between the front paws.

Some dogs get stuck in a bow — front down, rear up — without finishing the move. The fix is a low gap to crawl under.

Sit on the floor and make a tunnel with your bent knee, or use the rung of a chair. Lure the treat slowly under that gap. To reach it, the dog has to flatten all the way down, which shapes the full position for you. No pushing, no pressure.
