When the Straight Lure Fails

Some dogs answer the straight-down lure by standing up instead of folding. Do not repeat the same move louder — switch the path.

Try the L-shaped lure: draw the treat down to the floor, then slowly out along the ground toward you. That sideways drag turns into a little crawl, and the crawl ends in a down. Keep sessions short and upbeat, and let your dog puzzle it out — solving it themselves makes the down far more reliable than any nudge from you.
