Your Two Rules

The whole method comes down to two habits you repeat every walk.

• Pay the steps. In easy places, reward every two or three steps of slack-leash walking. The dog learns that staying near you pays out steadily.
• Stop the pull. The moment the leash goes taut, stop cold. No yanking, no correcting, no talking. Wait for slack, mark it, resume.

That is it. Everything else is just practice in harder places.
