When the Paw Won't Come

Some dogs sit there licking your fist forever. A few nudges fix most of them.

• Lower your hand closer to the chest, so reaching down is the only option left
• Wiggle the fist slightly to spark a swat
• End the round at a low point if the dog quits — frustration kills sessions

Never grab the leg and force it. A pushed paw teaches nothing; a chosen paw sticks. The dog has to decide the paw is what earns the treat.
