Finishing the Roll

Once your dog is lying on their side, keep luring the treat over their shoulder until they roll onto their back and tip all the way around to standing.

Wait until the full rotation is smooth, then say "roll over" just before your dog moves. Said too early, the words mean nothing.

Next, shrink the lure into a small rolling hand gesture. Many dogs will read that signal from several feet away.
