Most tricks are won with timing. Roll over is won with trust.

To finish the move, your dog has to volunteer their most vulnerable position and give up the ability to spring away. That is why a nervous dog can know every step and still refuse the last turn.

So read your dog, not just the food. Loose body, soft eyes, leaning into the work? Keep going. Stiff, slow, or glancing at the door? Back up a phase. Progress here means a calmer dog, not a faster one.
