Run It As One

Up to now you drilled each half on its own. Now link them into a single smooth rep:

• Say "take it" and let your dog hold the toy.
• After a short hold, say "give" and trade for a treat.
• Hand the toy straight back and start again.

Giving the toy back is the rule that makes the whole thing work. If "give" always meant losing the toy, your dog would quit playing. When giving brings a treat and the toy returns, the loop runs on its own.
