The Trade-offs of Cloud Dependence
Cloud computing adds real dependency. Major provider outages can take thousands of services down at once, so your data's availability depends on someone else's reliability.

The real risk is vendor lock-in. Moving your data and applications between cloud providers is expensive and technically painful. Companies that build deeply on one provider's tools find the switching costs so high that they stay put, even when a better or cheaper option exists.
