Velcro
In 1941, Swiss engineer George de Mestral pulled prickly **burrs** off his dog and looked at them under a microscope. He saw tiny hooks that grabbed onto loops in fur and fabric. He copied the idea into a two-sided fastener: stiff hooks on one strip, soft loops on the other. That is **Velcro**.
