Applications That Matter

Engineers integrate stress across a beam to determine if it will hold. Physicians integrate drug concentration curves to calculate total dosage absorbed by the body. Economists integrate supply-and-demand curves to measure consumer surplus and market efficiency.

Even probability relies on integration. The chance that a random variable falls within a range equals the area under its probability curve for that interval. Without integration, modern statistics and machine learning would simply not exist.
