Something they can prove, but that might take you a year to truly understand
The field has its own dialect. 'Trivial' means obvious to an expert, 'elegant' means beautifully simple, and 'left as an exercise' often means 'this is genuinely hard and I would rather not write it out.' Brevity is prized over hand-holding.
