Ancient audiences understood this. Myths were not meant as moral instruction — they were meant to explain a violent, unpredictable world by personifying its forces. Modern retellings soften the gods into Marvel heroes, but the originals were closer to earthquakes with opinions: they punished, tested, and destroyed without apology.
