Command Economies
In command economies, the government owns resources and central planners make decisions. Officials set production quotas, fix prices, and allocate goods according to political priorities rather than consumer preferences.

The Soviet Union showed both the power and the failure of this approach. Central planning achieved rapid industrialization and won a space race, but it also produced chronic shortages, poor-quality consumer goods, and little incentive to improve everyday life for ordinary people.
