Beyond economics, UBI raises deep questions about meaning. In most cultures, work provides identity, purpose, social connection, and structure. What happens when work becomes optional?

Optimists envision people freed to pursue creative passions, caregiving, education, and community service. Pessimists fear that without the structure of employment, many would struggle with purposelessness and isolation.
