The 19th-century revival turned Celtic motifs into something portable. As Irish and Scottish families emigrated, they carried Celtic visual identity to America, Australia, and beyond, where the Celtic cross and knotwork became shorthand for heritage and belonging.
That reach never faded. Today Celtic knotwork is among the world's most recognized decorative styles, appearing on jewelry, architecture, and tattoos far from where it began.
